Graduated from the Chernigovskoe High Military Aeronautic School after Leninsky Komsomol in 1964; Doctorate degree of technical sciences, 2000; Colonel General, Soviet Air Force, Ret.; was selected as cosmonaut on 28.10.1965 (TsPK-3); OKP (cosmonaut basic training): 11/65 - 12/67; since Spetember 1991 Chief of Cosmonaut Training Center TsPK; in August 2003 retired due to reach the maximum age for remaining in military service; currently he serves as an advisor for the President of Belarus.
