waren seit dem 17. Mai 2012 an Bord der Raumstation (Ankunft mit
Sojus
TMA-04M). Am 27. Juli 2012 benutzte Akihiko Hoshide den Roboterarm der Internationalen Raumstation, um das H-II Transfer Vehicle, oder HTV-3 der Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) am Andockknoten des Moduls Harmony zu befestigen. Vorher hatte Joseph Acaba mit Unterstützung von Akihiko Hoshide vom Steuerpult in der Cupola aus, das 16,5 Tonnen schwere unbemannte Transportraumschiff eingefangen. Den ersten Außenbordeinsatz führten Gennadi Padalka und Juri Malentschenko am 20. August 2012 (5h 51m) durch. Die Kosmonauten versetzten einen Strela-2-Transportkran vom Modul Pirs zum Modul Sarja. Dies ermöglicht, zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt abzukoppeln und damit Platz für ein neues russisches Forschungslabor zu machen. Zu den weiteren Aufgaben gehörte das Aussetzen eines Klein-Satelliten sowie die Installation von Schutzschilden gegen Weltraumschrott. Die zweite EVA absolvierten Sunita Williams und Akihiko Hoshide am 30. August 2012 (8h 17m). Die Astronauten ersetzten am Solarflächenträger eine defekte Steuereinheit für die Stromversorgung (teilweise fehlgeschlagen) und verlegten Kabel für ein künftiges russisches Labormodul. Sunita Williams und Akihiko Hoshide führten einen dritten Außenbordeinsatz am 05. September 2012 (6h 28m) durch. Die Astronauten komplettierten die Installation einer neuen Steuereinheit für die Stromversorgung.
