Birthname: Krysin; graduated from Higher Military Fighter Pilot School, Yeysk, 1965; Major General, Soviet Air Force; was selected on 27.04.1970 as cosmonaut (TsPK-5); was assigned as backup commander for Soyuz 16; he was the first Soviet cosmonaut, who performed five space flights; deputy head of TsPK from 1984 to 1986; until 1999 he served as scientific advisor for the TsPK; later he was a balloon driver.
