Bachelor of science in physics and bachelor of arts in English from Stanford University, 1973; master of science and Ph.D. in physics from Stanford University 1975 and 1978 respectively; was assigned to serve as a mission specialist on STS-61M (cancelled); later at Center for International Security and Arms Control, Stanford University; was since June 1989 Chief of Space Science Institute, University of California, San Diego; Member of Columbia Accident Investigation Board (CAIB). In August 1987, she resigned from NASA to take a position at the Center for International Security and Arms Control (CISAC) at Stanford University. Hobbies: Tennis, running, rugby, volleyball, softball, philately She died of pancreatic cancer.
