Polytechnic Institute majoring in chemical engineering a year before entering
the U.S. Naval Academy on a senatorial appointment, where he graduated with a
bachelor of science degree in 1956. Lt. Cdr. Owings died aged 34 on September
27, 1966 when his A-6 jet exploded over Chesapeake Bay. |
