Attended Rice University (Aviation), Houston, from 1951-1955, and was awarded his bachelor of science degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 1974 was serving as manager of NASA's Principal Investigation Management Office (PIMO) at Houston. From 1981 to 1985, while employed at NASA JSC, he studied Management Systems in classes at the University of Houston, Clear Lake, and at the University of Colorado, Denver, receiving his master's degree in Business and Public Administration.
