Mission objectives

Following the loss of the DOS-2 station, the DOS-2 Expediton-1 crew was targeted for launch towards the DOS-3 station. This station did make it to orbit on May 11 but developed problems (it received the name Cosmos-557)". Therefore the mission was cancelled.
