Was planned as the first manned test in earth orbit of an Block II lunar mission version of the Apollo spacecraft on AS-205 and an unmanned operational Lunar Module on AS-208, launched one day later. This flight was cancelled due of the launch pad fire on January 27, 1967. Prime crew flew later as Apollo 9 and the backup crew flew as Apollo 10.
