Additional information

Note: Ramon is not his orginal last name, he was born as Ilan Wolfermann (son of Eliezer Wolfermann and Tonia 'Tova' Kreppel). Both Ilan and his brother Gadi changed their name to Ramon when they entered the Israeli Air Force (many Israelis who settle in Israel change their names to Hebrew ones). Ramon means 'pomegranate', and uses some of the letters of the name Wolfermann.
Bachelor of science in electronics and computer engineering from the University of Tel Aviv, 1987; Fighter Pilot and Colonel Israel Air Force; hobbies: Skiing, squash; died in the Columbia tragedy (STS-107) on February 01, 2003.
