Graduated from Military Medical Academy, Leningrad, 1960; Candidate of medical sciences degree, 1975; Doctor at IMBP; was selected in September 1965 as cosmonaut candidate; 1966 Antarctic expedition for IMBP; 1967 participant of Ra expedition from Thor Heyerdahl; participant of Tigris expedition with Heyerdahl in 1979; 1980 member of the first Soviet expedition to the Mount Everest; later chief of a department at IMBP, Moscow; 1993 he retired from active duty and became director and of TV soap "Travelclub”, in which he also played the role of the doctor.
