In 1979 entered into the military air school; Major of Chilean Airforce; fighter pilot; passed instruction to REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA for the flights on aircraft Mirage; in 1991 - 1992 he learned at the Catholic university (Universidad Catu.lica del Norte); bachelor of science from the University of Southern California in aerospace engineering; since 1993 he works in the Chilean space agency (Agencia Chilena del Espacio) on project telemedicine; in 1992 he was selected in Chile for the preparation for the flight on the Space Shuttle; from summer 2001 were considered as candidate for the flight aboard a Russian spacecraft during a taxi-flight the orbital station ISS in the spring of 2003; but in September 2002 the medical board at the IMBP was not passed; still an active cosmonaut candidate from the Chilean space agency.
