Master of science; Doctor of sciences; in 1977 he worked as researcher in the division of the scientific programs of the ESA; later he worked in the Institute of Adaptative Physiology and Physiology of Space Flight (Institut fur Adaptive und Raumfahrtphysiologie) in Graz in Austria; Field: medicine. Finished his medical studies at Graz University in Austria and started work as an assistant surgeon, specialised in abdominal surgery, at the University Clinic in Graz. Working at the German aerospace organisation DFVLR, 1969-1976. Senior scientist in ESA's Life Sciences activities, 1977. Additional candidate from Austria in the 1977 ESA selection (ESA itself put forward him), but was not selected; currently living in Newzealand.
