Graduation from ETH Zürich in 1958 with diploma Civil Engineering and specialization Aeronautics; Engineer's Degree in Astronautical Engineering from Stanford University in 1961; engineer with the group working on the Spacelab at ESA; additional candidate from Switzerland in the 1977 ESA selection (ESA itself put forward him); now retired, but is still a member of the board of Space Expo (space museum and visitors centre of ESTEC).
