Graduated from the University in 1950; one of fourty semi finalists in the "Journalist in Space Program" (cancelled following the Challenger tragedy); candidate from Minnesota; in 1986 working for the Minneapolis Star-Tribune; awarded the Award of Excellence by the School of Journalism at the University of Minnesota in 1995 und has twice been nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in journalism; hobbies: mountaineering; retired in 1995, but still writing books and planning adventures. He is the father of U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar.
