Bachelor of Science from the Wayne University in 1953; one of fourty semi finalists in the "Journalist in Space Program" (cancelled following the Challenger tragedy); candidate from New York; in 1986 working for the Forbes Magazine; worked fort he Wall Street Journal since 1956 reporting first from Chicago and then from Detroit; joined the staff of the New York times from 1967 to 1979, serving as its Detroit correspondent and later as an assistant editor on the national and financial desks in New York; since 1979 he worked fort he Forbes Magazine and held a number of posts there, including Washington bureau chief, assistant managing editor and senior editor; since 1996 he wrote the Backseat Driver column for Forbes magazine.
