In 1977 he worked in ESA according to the program of the creation of the laboratory of Spacelab; at present continues the work in ESA and is one of the leaders of project Integral-Observatory; additional candidate from Germany in the 1977 ESA selection (ESA itself put forward him), but was not selected.
