Graduated from in Norwegian flying school; graduated from in Norway tactical school on the base Airforce of Norway; graduated from Test Pilot School, Edwards Air Force Base, California; in 1987 he began to work as pilot for the airline Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) and as tespilot of the Norwegian air force; in 1990 he was one of five Norwegian candidates for the European astronaut group; but could not pass the first stage of the selection of the European Commission.
