Bachelor of science from the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, 1950; master of science in aeronautical engineering from CalTech, Pasadena, 1957; Colonel, USAF, Ret.; 1961 selected as Military Astronaut - Class 1; resigned from NASA on 01.07.1970 to join "Eastern Airlines" as chairman, later as President; as next he was 1988 chairman of Patlex Corp., Chatsworch, California; he lives now in New Mexico and restores airplanes.
